4 Tips You Should Know to Prevent Cancer

Cancer is a type of disease where starts in human cells. First, the cells begin to alter and then divide uncontrollably. These altered cells may form a lump, which is called a tumor. However, all lumps are not cancerous. If a lump spreads into other parts of the body, it is destructive and called a malignant tumor. If a lump does not grow into the surrounding tissue, then it is not harmful and referred as a benign tumor.

Over the last two decades, cancer has been a significant effect on people across the world. When we hear the word "cancer," almost everyone is frightened or does not know how to react. Especially if one of our family members is diagnosed with cancer, we all know that this will be an overwhelming experience for both emotionally and physically. Apart from trying to support our family member during their treatment, we tend to think negatively about our health as having a cancer patient in our family means that we also have the cancer gene.

Whether we have a cancer patient in our family, or not, we are all at risk because the air we breathe is not clear due to air pollution, the food we eat is all packaged and genetically changed, the drink we consume is fizzy and full of sugar. Apart from these factors, as we live in a modern society, we are all surrounded by electronic devices, which means we are more exposed to radiation when compared with fifty years ago. Although all these negative factors can affect our lifestyle, there are so many ways to reduce the cancer risk. With the help of four tips below, you can prevent cancer or find it at a very early stage.

1. Eat Clean!

It is a universally known truth that sugar harms our body and depress our immune system. We should avoid sugary and sweet foods. Apart from sugar, we also need to limit the food which is high in salt and fat. Our diet should consist of raw vegetables, fruit, whole grain, fish, and pulses. Thanks to the natural enzymes in these foods, our body can intake cancer-fighting antioxidants.

2. Exercise Regularly!

Simply walk everywhere! You do not have to pay for a gym. Get off the bus or metro one stop early and walk to your house. Walking is the best and easiest exercise that you can add to your daily routine. Routinely doing exercise will boost the immune system and lower the cancer risk.

3. No Smoking & Alcohol!

To prevent cancer, you need to quit smoking and avoid alcohol and any kind of tobacco products including cigar, hookah. Smoking and having alcohol increase the risk of having cancer. If you are a non-smoker, but you share your place with someone who is smoking, then you are exposed to second-hand smoke. You need to keep in your mind that you should also avoid second-hand smoke. If you are a social drinker, you need to be sure that you are keeping the gap between social drinking and problem drinking. Remember that not to use alcohol is the best.

4. Have a Total Cancer Screening!

If you have a cancer patient in your immediate family, you might also have the risk for cancer. Catching cancer at an early stage saves a life. To protect your future, you might have a total cancer screening. A total cancer screening has a variety of different check-ups from dermatological tests to complete blood count. Thanks to all these detailed tests, before the symptoms are visible, cancer can be found and treated.
